COLUMBIA, S.C. – In a field packed with top competition, including host University of South Carolina, North Carolina Central University achieved eight top-20 performances at the Weems Baskin Outdoor Track & Field Invitational on Friday and Saturday, March 23-24.
NCCU sophomore
Omega Smalls cleared 1.95 meters (6-feet, 4.75-inches) to place eighth in the men's high jump invitational. In the men's high jump open, freshman
Marvin Jones finished third with a height of 1.93m (6' 4.0").
In the women's high jump open, freshman
Bhrandi Crenshaw leaped 1.54m (5' 0.5") to place fourth. Crenshaw also placed fourth in the women's triple jump open with a distance of 11.82m (38' 9.5"), while sophomore
Sharnea Brown finished 19th (10.77m).
On the track, NCCU freshman
Jazire Notice posted the event's 11th-fastest time of 48.54 seconds in the men's 400-meter dash, while junior
Bethany White ran 24.32 seconds in the women's 200-meter dash to place 17th, and freshman
Gordon Lewis finished 20th in the men's 200m dash with a time of 21.57 seconds.
Up next, NCCU will compete at High Point University on March 29-30.
