WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University indoor track & field teams captured seven event victories at the JDL College Team Challenge on Thursday, Feb. 8 at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
NCCU senior
Akia Morris swept both sprint races on the women's side, winning the 60-meter dash (7.63) and the 200m dash (25.56) with season-best times in each event.
Freshman
Kenydi McWilliams also achieved a season-best time of 9.04 seconds to win the women's 60m hurdles, while freshman
Bhrandi Crenshaw posted a season-long mark in the women's triple jump (11.46m) for a first-place finish.
On the men's side, freshman
Gordon Lewis ran his fastest time of the season to win the 400m dash in 49.87 seconds. Lewis also joined
Jazire Notice,
Tristan Locklear and
Da'Mon Ingram to beat the field in the 4x400m relay with a season-best time of 3:24.55.
In the men's high jump, NCCU took the top two spots with identical jumps by event winner
Mykol Branch and runner-up
Marvin Jones (1.90m).
