NCCU’s White Posts Fastest Sprint Times in MEAC this Season at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. – North Carolina Central University sophomore Bethany White recorded the fastest times in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference this outdoor track & field season in both the women's 100-meter and 200-meter dashes during this weekend's Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State University.
 
A native of Gaithersburg, Maryland, White posted personal-best times of 11.84 seconds in the 100m dash and 24.26 seconds in the 200m dash to place second in both events.
 
Fellow sophomore Miaysha Bryant (Winston-Salem, N.C.) also achieved a personal-best mark in the women's 200m dash to place fifth with a time of 24.61, which ranks fifth in the MEAC this season.
 
NCCU senior Jonathan Williams (Wake Forest, N.C.) tallied a personal-best time of 10.59 seconds in the men's 100m dash to place third. His time ranks third among the league's leaders this outdoor season.
 
Senior Carlton Edwards, Jr. (Glen Allen, Va.) finished sixth in the men's 400m hurdles, but his mark of 53.15 ranks second in the conference this season.
 
Redshirt-freshman Omega Smalls (North Charleston, S.C.) placed fifth in the men's high jump with the MEAC's second-best leap this season of 2.05 meters (6' 8.75").
 
On Thursday and Friday at the Adidas Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, South Carolina, all four NCCU multi-event student-athletes qualified for the MEAC outdoor track & field championships.
 
In the decathlon, senior Dominick Lemonious (Detroit, Mich.) placed fifth with 5,240 points, while senior Timothy Edelen (Raleigh, N.C.) finished sixth with 5,199 points.
 
Lemonious won the 110m hurdles (15.26) and placed second in the 100m dash (11.53).
 
Edelen won the shot put (12.60m), placed second in the javelin throw (46.98m) and finished third in the 100m dash (11.73) and the discus throw (33.64m).
 
In the heptathlon, sophomore Star Satterwhite (Warrenton, N.C.) placed second with 3,933 points and sophomore Nateja Hale (Winston-Salem, N.C.) finished fifth with 3,784 points.
 
Satterwhite placed second in the high jump (1.52m) and third in the 200m dash (26.80).
 
Hale placed second in the 200m dash (26.30) and 800m run (2:38.99), and third in 100m hurdles (15.04).
