LYNCHBURG, Va. – North Carolina Central University senior
Jonathan Williams proved to be the fastest sprinter at Liberty University's Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational, posting the top times in each of the men's 60-meter dash races on Saturday (Jan. 28).
A native of Wake Forest, North Carolina, Williams recorded a time of 6.88 seconds in the 60m dash preliminaries to advance to the next round, where he achieved a career-best mark of 6.82 seconds to win the event.
In a highly-competitive field, including student-athletes from Virginia, Wake Forest, James Madison, VCU, Hampton, UNC Wilmington, High Point, Elon, Gardner-Webb, UNC Asheville, Saint Augustine's and host Liberty, NCCU collected six top-five performances.

Jaszmine Bowman (Raleigh, N.C.) also tallied a career-best in the women's shot put. Her toss of 13.87 meters (45'-6.25") made her the event runner-up.
Freshman
Deja Stevenson (Baltimore, Md.) continued to be productive in multiple events, placing second in the women's triple jump (11.84 meters/38'-10.25"), fifth in the long jump (5.41m) and 13th in the 60m hurdles (8.98 seconds).
Freshman Omega Smalls earned second place in the men's high jump with a leap of 1.99 meters (6'-6.25"), senior
Deandre James (Portsmouth, Va.) placed fourth in the men's 800m run (1:56.42) and freshman Blake Hartsfield finished fifth in the men's 60m dash (7.00 seconds).
