Eagles Speed past Truett McConnell

DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University returned to the hardwood after the break and picked up right where it left off with an 88-54 win over Truett McConnell University on Wednesday, Dec. 28 at McDougald-McLendon Arena.

Three separate Eagles reached new career marks: Dajuan Graf (Charlotte, N.C.) scored 26 points, Ron Trapps (Lancaster, S.C.) scored 16 points and Will Ransom (Fort Worth, Texas) pulled down 14 rebounds.

NCCU (8-5) shot the ball efficiently, netting over 50 percent of its shots during the first half and the Eagles finished the game shooting 48.5 percent from the floor.  The Eagles also were precise from the arc as they hit 40 percent of their threes.

The Eagles also dominated the boards as they ripped down 53 rebounds, a new season-high and the second-most in a game in the Division-I era behind a 57 rebound effort against Barber-Scotia on Dec. 17, 2014.

In addition to the career-high scoring for Graf, he also dished out a game-high seven assists, and Ransom pushed away three shots.  Pablo Rivas (Phoenix, Ariz.) was also a factor with seven points and 10 rebounds.

Truett McConnel (5-9) was led by David Campbell (Lake Wales, Fla.) who contributed a team-high 16 points, along with three rebounds.

NCCU held the Bears to just 27 percent shooting from both the floor and perimeter.

The Eagles will close out 2016 with a home match against Montreat on Friday, Dec. 30 at 7:00 p.m. at McDougald-McLendon Arena.
