DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University baseball junior
Christian Triplett has been named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for May 2015 in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.
A native of Wilkesboro, North Carolina, Triplett batted .318 during the month of May with seven hits in 22 plate appearances, including two doubles, a home run, 12 RBI, two runs scored and a slugging percentage of .545. At his first base position, he recorded 33 putouts with one assist and no errors.
In his best outing of the month, Triplett went 3-for-5 at the dish with a home run and three RBI versus Campbell on May 6.
On May 7, Triplett was named to the 2015 Capital One Academic All-District First Team for District 3 as voted by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The accounting major boasts an overall grade point average of 3.76. He is a member of NCCU's Honors Program, is a Chancellor's Scholar and Dean's List honoree.
Triplett made big news a few weeks before May by hitting two homers over the Boston Red Sox' famed Green Monster at Fenway Park.
