Men’s Basketball Senior Records Five Double-Doubles in December


DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University men's basketball senior Jordan Parks has been named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for December 2014 in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments on the court and in the classroom.
 
A native of Queens, New York, Parks averaged 16.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.1 blocked shots per contest in nine games during the month of December. In that time, the 6-7, 200-pound forward recorded five double-doubles.
 
Parks' best overall outing in the final month of 2014 was against Barber-Scotia on Dec. 17, when he amassed a career-high 33 points along with 10 rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots. He also scored 20 points or better in three other games and grabbed 13 rebounds twice.
 
For his effort during the week of Dec. 7-13, Parks was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
 
On Jan. 21, Parks was named to the Lou Henson Award Mid-Season Watch List, making him a candidate for the Division I Mid-Major Player of the Year honor.
 
In the classroom, Parks has maintained an overall grade point average of 3.35 as a psychology major at NCCU.
