NORTHBROOK, Ill. – North Carolina Central University senior quarterback Jordan Reid is one of 22 college football student-athletes across the country to be selected to the 2013 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, Allstate Insurance Company and the America Football Coaches Association announced Tuesday (Sept. 17).
The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team is one of the most prestigious off-the-field honors in college sports, paying tribute to the positive impact the honorees have had on their communities and the lives of others.
A native of High Point, N.C., Reid has performed numerous community service initiatives, including sleeping outside to raise awareness for homelessness, donating blood to American Red Cross, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, playing kickball for breast cancer, and speaking to elementary and middle school students. He is also a proud co-founder of the Adopt-a-Brother program with the Global Scholars Academy in Durham, N.C.
On campus, Reid serves as vice president on the leadership council of the NCCU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and is a team captain on the football squad. He boasts a 3.345 grade point average as a recreation administration major with a minor in business management.
On the gridiron, Reid received the NCCU Football Offensive Most Valuable Player award following the 2012 season, after breaking the school's single-season record for pass completion percentage (62.3% - 154-of-247 passing).

For more than two decades, the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team has recognized college football players at all levels of the sport for inspiring acts of service and off-the-field achievements. This summer, the program received a record 150 nominations from colleges and universities across the country. From the nominations, an esteemed voting panel comprised of former Allstate AFCA Good Works Team members and college football media selected 11 players from the Football Bowl Subdivision and 11 players from the Football Championship Subdivision, Divisions II, III and the NAIA to comprise the 22-player team.

This year's Allstate AFCA Good Works Team boasts some of the most impressive service resumes in the award's 22-year history. From building houses overseas, to founding a mentorship program for at-risk youth, to serenading cancer patients at the local children's hospital, this unique group of young men continues to raise the bar for the impact that student-athletes can have on their peers, teammates and communities.

The SEC leads all conferences with 58 selections to the Good Works Team since it began in 1992. The SEC is followed by the Big 12 Conference with 41 selections and the Atlantic Coast Conference with 34 selections. With C.J. Zimmerer's selection in 2013, Nebraska moves into a tie with Georgia for first place with 14 honorees to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. The Cornhuskers and Bulldogs are followed by St. Thomas (Minn.) with 13 honorees. Super Bowl XLII, XLVI and XLI champion quarterbacks Eli and Peyton Manning were members of the 2002 and 1997 Good Works Teams®, respectively.
