DURHAM, N.C. – On Jan. 5, members of the North Carolina Central University women’s basketball team volunteered at the third annual Playworks Durham Basketball Extravaganza at The Emily K Center in Durham, N.C.

During the event, which is a tipoff for the upcoming season of the Playworks Durham girls basketball league, NCCU Lady Eagles assisted girls representing teams from the entire league with skills demonstrations and then sat down with the students to talk about hoops and life.

Playworks is a national nonprofit organization that transforms schools by providing play and physical activity at recess and throughout the school day. Locally, Playworks Durham serves 15 elementary schools throughout the Bull City.
