Question: Why did you choose NCCU?
Geovonie Irvine: “They saw potential in me to play football.”
Q: What is your major and what do you want to do after you graduate from NCCU?
GI: “My major is sport management. If I’m not playing football, then coaching kids or try to become a sports agent.”
Q: What do you like most about being an NCCU Eagle?
GI: “The atmosphere. There is a bunch of stuff to do here at NCCU. And I like to crowd at the games. The crowd is live and gets you hype.”
Q: What has been your most memorable moment at NCCU?
GI: “My first catch. It was a touchdown (34 yards) versus Hampton (Sept. 5, 2009).”
Q: Do you have any pre-game rituals?
GI: “I listen to slow jams to calm me down.”
Q: Why football?
GI: “If it wasn’t for one of my best friends, I wouldn’t be playing football. But he begged me to play in the fifth grade and I started loving it. I was a basketball person.”
Q: If you could invite any living person to W.G. Pearson cafeteria for ‘Chicken Day,’ who would it be and why?
GI: “Meagan Good. I’ve liked her since she was on ‘Cousin Skeeter.’”
Q: What three words best describe you?
GI: “Motivated. Determined. Leader.”
Q: How would you like to be remembered from your days on the NCCU gridiron?
GI: “As a talented young man. Small, but with a big heart.”
