DURHAM, N.C. – Winners of four straight contests, the North Carolina Central University baseball team makes the short trek to Buies Creek, N.C. to face in-state foe Campbell University in the regular season finale on Wednesday night at 6:00 at Taylor Field.

NCCU (17-30, 13-10 MEAC) enters the week hitting on all cylinders after its three-game sweep over Florida A&M and is looking to end the season on a high note after qualifying for the 2012 MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) baseball tournament, which takes place May 16-20 at Norfolk State University’s Marty Miller Field in Norfolk, Va.

Campbell (34-14, 10-8 Big South) has a ballgame on Tuesday afternoon at Wofford but has already set the school record for wins in a season and is tied for third in the Big South Conference with Liberty University.

This will mark meeting No. 15 between these two programs with the Camels holding a 14-0 advantage and are coming off a 20-0 victory in the last meeting on April 11.

CU is led offensively by one of the nation’s top hitters as Michael Felton is batting .410 on the season with 80 hits in 48 games.  The Camels have four players with 30-plus RBI and is led by Jake Kirkland who is ranked No. 32 in the nation with 51 RBI entering play this week.  As a team, Campbell is sixth in the nation with a .291 batting average.

Junior outfielder Luis Diaz (Geneva, N.Y.) tops the squad batting .355 on the year with 60 hits, breaking sophomore Dylan Drayton’s previous record of 58 hits in a season set last season.  Current MEAC Player of the Week Carter Williamson (Roanoke, Va.) is third in the conference in RBI with 41.
