NCCU STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE MONTH: CEMBER CARMICHAEL

Carmichael Amasses Four of Her Six Home Runs in the Month of March

DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University sophomore Cember Carmichael has been named the Nationwide Insurance NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for March 2012 in recognition to her outstanding achievements on the diamond for the Lady Eagles softball team.

In the month of March, the Griffin, Ga., native tallied six runs, 18 hits, 12 runs batted in, two doubles and a career-high four home runs in the month alone.

On Tuesday, March 20, in the mighty maroon’s first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader competition of the season, Carmichael guided the squad with a home run in each contest, along with a season-high two runs, two hits and five RBI on three times at bat in game two.

This season, the sophomore directs NCCU in batting average (.330), slugging percentage (.604), on base percentage (.406), runs scored (15), hits (30), runs batted in (18), doubles (7) and total bases reached (55).

Carmichael is the daughter of Timothy Carmichael and Stacy Love and is perusing a degree in mass communication.
