DURHAM, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – While junior Olesya Palko and seniors Alejandro Espitia and Jack Waissen have proven themselves on the court, the trio also puts the “student” in student-athlete by making the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Tennis All-Academic Team announced on Thursday, April 12.
The MEAC honors, sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes who have achieved a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average. Among 13 MEAC institutions, nine universities made the list.
No. 1 singles and doubles Lady Eagle Palko made the list based on her achievements as a pharmaceutical science student-athlete with a 4.000 GPA. Espitia, who competed as the No. 1 singles player and No. 2 doubles, retained a 3.960 GPA as a political science student-athlete, while Waissen, who was the No. 1 singles and doubles opponent, tallied a 3.860 GPA with a double major in political science and criminal justice.
