DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University senior Camille Strachan has been named The Banks Law Firm NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for June 2010 for her outstanding accomplishments in the classroom and in uniform as a four-year member of the NCCU cheerleading squad.
Strachan, a native of Greensboro, N.C., was a stellar student-athlete, striving to the highest accomplishment. The senior graduated summa cum laude in May 2010 with a double major in Biology and Chemistry. Her academic achievements got her accepted into Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn., where she will enroll in the fall.
“It was such a pleasure to coach Camille during her years as a NCCU cheerleader,” said head cheerleading coach LuAnn Edmonds-Harris. “She was extremely creative, a team player and a vital part of the success of our program. Camille always had a positive attitude and demonstrated her love and pride for NCCU at all times.”
From the time she arrived on NCCU’s campus, she had been striving towards her goal of attending medical school. Strachan attended Pre-Med programs at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Duke University and Wake Forest University during the summer of her freshman year.
For three consecutive years, Strachan received the Scholastic Award for the varsity cheerleading squad.
