DID YOU KNOW? On Feb. 1, 1986, Von Fulmore amassed 41 points and 32 rebounds against UNC-Asheville to establish North Carolina Central University women's basketball records in both categories.
Fulmore's record-setting performance charged the Lady Eagles to an 87-76 victory in Durham, N.C.
A day earlier, on Jan. 31, 1986, Fulmore recorded 32 points and 24 rebounds during an 87-47 win over Bowie State. During the 1985-86 season, the 5-11 sophomore from Fairmont, N.C., scored 30 points or more seven times and grabbed 20 rebounds or more on eight occasions.
Fulmore finished the season as the nation's leading rebounder with 464 boards, an average of 17.8 per game, while also contributing 24.5 points per contest to become NCCU's first NCAA Division II First-Team All-American.
A three-time All-CIAA honoree, Fulmore completed her three-year Lady Eagle career (1984-87) with 1,208 points and 872 rebounds. She was inducted into the NCCU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.
As part of North Carolina Central University's Centennial celebration, the NCCU Department of Athletics will post sports history facts from the institution's first 100 years to its official web site, www.NCCUEaglePride.com, every week during the year-long observance.
