DURHAM, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) - North Carolina Central University junior Dreanna Wallace has been named the Nationwide Insurance NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for October 2010 in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments in the classroom, in the community and on the trails as a member of the cross country team.

During the 2010 cross country season, Wallace was the first Lady Eagle to cross the finish line in all five meets.

In two cross country competitions during the month of October, Wallace topped the NCCU women with a fourth place finish at the NCCU Eagle Classic on Oct. 16 and a 14th place effort at the Great American Cross Country Festival on Oct. 2.

An honor roll student from Orlando, Fla., Wallace boasts a grade point average above 3.0 as an athletic training major. While not competing in cross country this fall, she worked as a student athletic trainer with the football team.

Wallace now prepares for action during the indoor track & field season as a specialist in long distance events (mile run, 1500m run, 5k run).

After graduation from NCCU, Wallace plans on attending graduate school to prepare for a career in physical therapy.
